Center for Strengthening Community Voices-CSCOV South Sudan Trains 50 Women Leaders on Political and Electoral Rights in Western Bahr el Ghazal, South Sudan.
Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State – The Center for Strengthening Community Voices (CSCOV), with financial support from Access to Skills and Knowledge Network ASKnet, successfully conducted a two-day awareness workshop on political and electoral rights for women leaders in Wau.
The training session was held from November 28 to 29, 2025, at Dignity Hall, located within the State Ministry of Gender, Child, and Social Welfare. The workshop successfully brought together fifty (50) women leaders who serve in various capacities across Western Bahr el Ghazal State.
Key Speaker Highlights.
Juleta Lino Alberto, Representatives of CSCOV: In her opening remarks, Ms. Alberto outlined the objectives of the workshop, emphasizing the critical importance of increasing women’s participation in electoral processes. She strongly urged the participating women to unite and support one another to ensure their meaningful engagement in the upcoming general elections.
Arkangelo Udo Agany, Chairperson of the State High Elections Commission:
Mr. Agany acknowledged the vital and indispensable role women play in elections. He encouraged the participants to stand firm in defending their electoral rights as the state prepares for the polls.
Mary Carlino Madut, State Minister of Gender, Child, and Social Welfare:
Minister Madut expressed her appreciation for the timely initiative. She encouraged all participants to maximize the knowledge and skills shared during the training. Furthermore, she urged women from all professional and social backgrounds to join political parties, thereby enhancing their chances of contesting and succeeding in future elections. This awareness workshop serves as a key part of the broader preparations designed to empower women ahead of the highly anticipated general elections in South Sudan.
