The Center for Strengthening Community Voices, with support from the Access to Skills and Knowledge (ASKnet) organization, concluded on Saturday a two-day awareness workshop on women’s political and electoral rights in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State. The training, which began on Friday at the Dignity Hall of the State Ministry of Gender, Child, and Social Welfare, brought together 50 women leaders holding various positions across the state.
During the closing session, Koleta Aku, the workshop facilitator assured their commitment to helping advance women’s political participation in the state and ensure their voices are represented in the drafting of the permanent constitution.
“It is important to include your voice in South Sudan constitution. And if there is anything or you need an extra information, I am available at the office of the State High election committee. You can also take your time to visit the office; the little information we give is the key to successful election.” She quoted
On the other hand, the Minister of Peace building, Monica Louis Mawien, reiterated her call for unity among women, urging them not to stand against one another. She stressed that women should serve as role models through their solidarity, which she said is key to achieving success.
“Let us open new chapter in our life, let us be example to others. If we unite together and work hand in hand, even the men will fear grapping our percentages. As women we have a very big role in the society, a community without women will be an incomplete community. Let us accept and love one another, so that everything will go smoothly’’ Monica stated.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Gender, Child, and Social Welfare, Mary Karlino Madut, encouraged all participants to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop and to extend this information to other women who were unable to attend.
“Go and benefit from this awareness, and use the information wisely.” said the state minister of gender The workshop concluded with a collective commitment to continue empowering women and enhancing their participation in the political and electoral processes.
