Juliata Lino received the SIHA network, women’s rights defender award

CSCOV is thrilled to celebrate our own Juliata Lino Alberto, who has been recognized by Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa – SIHA as a champion of women’s rights along with Mona Musa Manyang, a human rights defender, and Ratual Adau, the Founder and Executive Director of Women’s Empowerment Centre South Sudan.

Mrs. Juliata is an individual who has made significant contributions to advancing gender equality and women’s rights across the Country, South Sudan, and Western Bhar el Ghazal State in particular. Juliata’s advocacy, leadership, and efforts to address various challenges faced by women are magnificent.

Juliata Lino Alberto, a dynamic young advocate, has championed women’s rights since completing secondary school over six years ago. What began as volunteer work evolved into a powerful platform for civic engagement and media advocacy. At the World Civic Engagement Centre, Juliata designs transformative programmes focused on women’s rights. In 2024 alone, she documented over 50 women’s stories and engaged more than 1,000 women and girls through community dialogues, radio broadcasts, and outreach initiatives. She also trained 75 women in conflict mediation and promoted women’s participation in elections, constitution drafting, and education. Juliata continues to advocate for inclusive, intergenerational leadership within trade unions and women’s associations.
